Notes & History
Re: Wrong Information Listed
by Agustin Gurza, 04/29/2020 - 16:48Dear Samantha:
I surely appreciate you providing the correct spelling of the two main people mentioned in this Corrido, especially your great-grandfather. As a journalist, I completely understand your desire to correct the record.
I will contact the Arhoolie staff members who write the notes for our metadata on recordings. I did not see any specific mention of Espectacion Marichalar on the record label itself, so the name might have been spelled phonetically from listening to the record. I hope to get an answer for you soon.
Thanks for your interest in our collection, and for your help in making it better.

Wrong Information Listed
by Samantha Marich... (not verified), 07/07/2019 - 17:50Hi. This song is about my great-grandfather and I think it’s great there is a project cataloging music. However, the names you have listed are spelled wrong and incorrect. Albeit this is still a tragedy to our family and something my grandfather does not speak on 'til this day, we would appreciate if our great-grandfather's name can be spelled correctly - Espectacion Marichalar. And the man who killed him was his nephew, Silvistre Garza. My grandfather is not proud of what he has done nor will we ever know how he felt, but out of respect for my family, I would appreciate it if the information can be corrected. Thank you
