Response to singer on "Sisquisiri"
by Agustin Gurza, 08/30/2021 - 19:38Jose Luis:
I'm unable to confirm if Juan Mendoza is the singer on "Sisquisiri," but I have some doubts about it.
Unfortunately, you posted your question on a different, unrelated song. Here is a link to the recording by Los Costeños which you are referring to.
Nevertheless, I tried to find any version of that classic son jarocho in a rfendition by Juan Mendoza, but I couldn't find anything, not even anything in that style. I assume you are referring to Juan Mendoza of the famous musical family Los Hermanos Mendoza of Michoacán, founders in the 1940s of the folkloric Trio Tariácuri. The trio primarily performed sones jalicienses, sones michoacanos and huapangos, but not the son jarocho which is a very different style from Veracruz. Later as a solo artist, Juan Mendoza recorded primarily música ranchera with mariachi, including boleros rancheros, as did his famous sister, Amalia Mendoza.
Please let me know if you have other information. Thanks for your interest in our collection.
