Spottswood list the matrix number as EP 5024. This corrido takes place on October 3, 1929. It is about a prison uprising in the state of Colorado. At lunch time the prisioners killed a guard and opened up the arms vault and armed themselves with guns. The prisioners sent a letter to the warden demanding their immediate release, while they took 8 prison guards hostage. The state sent 300 soldiers to the prison. The prisoners killed 2 of the 8 prison guards. This first part of the corrido ends with the prisoners setting fire to the prison.
