This song was re-issued on Arhoolie’s CD7002 “Mal Hombre”. This tragic song is about a father professing his love to his daughter Delgadina. Delgadina refuses her fathers love and the father punishes Delgadina by imprisoning her. Delgadina pleads for a glass of water because she is dying of thirst. When they finally took her some water Delgadina was already dead. According to Spottswood, Lydia’s name is spelled “Lidya” on all 1930s Bluebird releases.
