Jesse Guerrero, "La Chucha"
de Agustin Gurza, 08/23/2018 - 12:35Dear Sylvia:
Thank you very much for pointing out the discrepancy in the spelling of your father’s name. I hope we can correct the record, with your assistance.
Using our search feature, I found just three recordings citing Chucho Guerrero as composer, but it’s not clear to me if this is supposed to be your father or not. The songs are “Es Por Demas” and “Ahora Lo Comprendes” by Nacho Miller, and “Hemisferia 68” by Los Rayos del Alamo de Tony Guerrero. Do you know if any of these were written by your father?
My search also yielded four tracks by the performer La Chucha Guerrero, which I’m assuming is your dad, but with no composer credits. There are also 13 songs credited to Jesse Guerrero as composer, including “La Chucha” by Los Guadalupanos, the song that presumably gave him his nickname. The version I linked to, a recording on tape, has working audio, which sounds delightful as an instrumental with catchy accordion lines. What instrument did your father play, by the way?
As for the audio on “Nuestro Apartamento,” it works on my computer, using Google Chrome. You might try using a different browser to see if you can get the audio to work on your end. Finally, let me forward your request for full clips. As of now, the only way the public can hear complete songs is by accessing the collection on campus at a UCLA library.
I sent a copy of this message to your email. I hope we can continue to communicate about your father’s recordings. It’s great to know you care about his work and his legacy, which is part of our mission as well.
Sincerely,
Agustín Gurza, Editor, The Frontera Collection.
Jesse Guerrero
de Sylvia Guerrero... (not verified), 08/22/2018 - 09:50Hello, my father's name is misspelled on several of your listings. He was known as "La Chucha," not Chucho. He was a part of the bands Los Rayos del Alamo, Los Guadalupanos, LosSocios de SA. He also later in life gave his life to Christ and recorded several Christian songs with, I believe, Los Marchanos. I would greatly appreciate access to his music (full not just snips). Also "Nuestro Apartamento" is not audible.
Sincerely,
Sylvia
