This corrido is about terrible earthquake that happened in the state of Oaxaca on January 14 with no year given. According to the corrido the earthquake lasted a total of five minutes and it happened in the early morning. At 7:20am two more earthquakes happend in which a church crumbled to the floor killing about 50 people. A total of 275 people perished in the earthquakes. The capital of Oaxaca was the only city that did not sustain any damage.
